One Sweet Peach Birthday

Aria’s first birthday was in October and after some debating on a theme, I settled on the “One Sweet Peach” theme as she truly is the sweetest and peachiest! As usual I kept it very DIY from a shaggy peach piñata to a sprinkle smash cake, keep reading to see how I achieved this look on a budget! And don’t forget to watch the official birthday vlog because video is always better than photos :)

Here’s a YouTube video sharing how I made many of these DIYS. I love me some strung garland, they’re easy to make and always look great in photos. The first garland I made was out of burnt orange tissue paper cut into half circles with slits to add some dimension. The second one was a ‘strung peaches’ look made out of the 6 inch peach balloons and any faux leaves you find at the craft store. In true Nicole fashion I also hand-made the peach piñata. I used a large punch balloon from the Dollar Store, the paper mache technique with flower and water (about 4-5 layers), and this specific peach colored tissue paper. Using green construction paper I made a huge peach stem and stuck it on with hot glue. It’s seriously one of the easiest piñatas I’ve ever made and is SOO freakin cute!

I always find the best deal for good piñata candy at Costco, and I also got some adorable favors for the gift bags off Amazon. For the smash cake, I saved money by reconstructing 2 lemon cakes from Costco hehe! I scarped off the frosting, added in orange and yellow food dye to make the right peach tone, layered the two cakes on top of each other and re-spread the frosting all over. I covered it in sprinkles and WAHLAH! Honestly the cake is getting smashed and half eaten by Aria so I didn’t cake to buy a perfect cake. Another snack hack, small fruit in cups has been the best way to feed little ones at parties. They can just grab and go, it’s healthy, and easy! I chopped up some peaches for this one of course!

For the chalkboard sign I wanted a way to display Aria’s milestone photos from each month of the year, but also include a cute little take-home item for the adults as well. I strung 3 rows of her photos (which I printed in polaroid style using the VNTG app), printed multiple copies of each photo and attached it with mini clothespins. My mother in law made the boho hanging garland strung on the high chair. It was inspired by the ones I saw on Etsy and I have one extra which you can purchase here if interested. The ‘One Sweet Peach’ cake topper was from Etsy but I’m re-selling mine for a bit less here.
